Winamp was created by Nullsoft in 1997 as a community supported media play and disruptor in the digital media space. Winamp supports music playback using MP3, MIDI, MOD, MPEG-1 audio layers 1 and 2, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WAV and WMA. Lead by Justin Frankel and his merry band of developers, Winamp soon became one of the most popular media player. On 20th November 2013, AOL announced that Winamp.com would shut down on 20th December 2013, and the software would no longer be available for download after that date.
